Great Blue Herons are one of my favorite birds to photograph. This was one of the first I've seen in 2009. Very few locations other than a few small streams have open water at this time of year. I watched another heron later the same day catch and eat frogs or small fish 3 or 4 times within ten minutes. Very effective hunter.
